Winding down is important. Reading a book is an excellent way of tiring you out. A warm bath is another good one. I listen to talk radio rather than watch tv. Soft music also works well.

One way I help myself to fall asleep is listening to calming music. Half of my music library is ambient or chillout. I understand that not everyone shares my taste in music. But try listening to artists like Enya or Jon Hopkins. Or if you have your own soothing music. I find it helps my mind wander...but in a free, spirited way related to the song. And before I know it, I've fallen asleep.

Don't eat a large meal before you go to sleep, it'll most likely keep you awake.
Full stomachs make you feel tired, but won't help you go to sleep usually. (: I'd say make your last meal three hours before you go to sleep, and keep sugar and caffeine out of your body if you have a small snack before bed. I don't like music or television when I try to sleep. I like to have a noisy fan in my room, because the sound does not change, so it's a good "white noise" to help in sleeping. If I can't have my fan on, I leave my door open and turn on my bathroom fan. If TV and music doesn't help, a consistent noise might help. It does wonders for me. (: Finally, engage in physical activity throughout the day. Work out in the mornings, and in the evenings about three or four hours before bedtime. That's about all the advice I can offer. I hope your sleeping gets better! |

Ahhh, same! I can't get to sleep til like 3, 4, or even 5 or 6, even after I'm exhausted from a 6 hour prsesason day. I'm on tylenol pm, but I really want to stop.

I agree with faye. Do stuff to cool you down, baths get you relaxed and make you sleepy after. Reading books is a nice way to relax.

Yea I get those during school time. Try taking a shower before you sleep, read, or workout. Those things should make you sleepy.
