How do deal with suicide...?

My brother's friend, a very close family friend committed suicide today... I've known her since I was born, and she was like an older sister to me...
She was 21 years old, and she hung herself. She's in the hospital right now, but they said its almost certain she's not gonna make it

I don't know what to do.
How....
I can't even start to think of life without her...

Uggh, today's such a depressing day. Any tips to cope with something like this would be greatly appreciated.

That's awful.
Very sorry about your loss.
But, definitely let it out.
Not with anger, but mourning in a good way.
Crying, remembering, etc.
But, there's really nothing else you CAN do, but hope for the best, in case she doesn't die.
All to do is move on.
But don't forget.
Just accept.

My dad committed suicide when I was fifteen and it took me a very long time to stop feeling numb and actually react to what happened. The only thing that has helped me is to think of all the positive memories of the person. I know its hard at first to imagine, and I am sure the only thing you are thinking about is what she tried to accomplish, but from her point of view, its not something she did to hurt you, or her family. I don't know if you are religious, but praying does help. It doesn't matter who you pray to, but it will make you feel better to pray for her in any form you feel comfortable. All in all, there isn't an easy way out of the emotions you are feeling. I am twenty now and I still think about my father every single day. It helps me to remember what a great person he was, and to think he is in a better and happier place now than he was here.

Toasty- I'm so sorry about your dad. I know what you mean by feeling numb... it kind of feels like nothing is happening.

Praying helped me so much. I hope it helps you too. I wasn't religious at all before hand. It is going to be one of the toughest things in your life, maybe even the toughest, but you will come out of it as a stronger person. And once you get to that point, the strength you've earned from that experience will help you throughout your life. I don't know if this will sound rude, and I am sorry if it does, I mean no respect, but she may be happier in heaven then she was down here. I feel like sometimes this life wasn't meant for certain people, and only they will know that.

I wish I could help you but I have never faced anything related to death but I'm sure you should not get over depressed because it'll make her feel sad parting. It can also cause many problems like food eating disorders etc u should be strong and stay healthy if anything us members of dz are here for u

I mean absolutely no disrespect here but I thnk I just have to point this out if u are Christian/catholic like I am suicide does not get a person into heaven so maybe u should go to church and ask the father what u could do for her

i have never experience anyone's death though one time my tita died and she was very dear to me. i felt sad at first but i learned to accept that fact and i knew that she won't want me to cry for her death cause she is a better place now and i will always remember her and though her memory will fade me i know i will always know in my heart that she was there for me when i needed her

Oh no...Suri I'm so sorry to hear that.

All I can say is, pray about it. That's what I'll do. Dealing with a loss is so so difficult by yourself, and it just makes it worse if you start missing the person who left even more.
I had a friend who passed away before, not through suicide though. But I can tell you how hard it is, and how praying always helped.
The first few days, things will be blank , very blank. Then as the days turn into weeks, you'll start to realize and be brought to the hard truth that indeed, that person's gone.
Those are the toughest moments for me.

Oh Suri thats horrible.
Suicide is not an easy subject, and theres no right or wrong answer when it comes to dealing with it... Whether you carry on as normal, or mourn for months/years, the outcome is always the same... there is light and happiness at the end of it all.. it just takes time.

Cry if you feel like crying... Dont be ashamed to, its good for you too! It gets rid of the nasty toxins and you feel better, if only for a short while, afterwards. Remember her when she was happy and cherish those moments... don't dwell on negatives.

Seeing as your religious, you have to look at it from a different angle. She probly did it bcause she was suffering, they way you feel now is probably how she has felt for awhile. If she doesnt make it, she is in a better place, were her problems can't get to her. You like everyone else will die and death is part of life, which is why u need to reflect on the god times and move on and maybe think of her every now and then.
