Heres The Deal...

Ok, so I just moved intersate because of (a very complicated) situation. I know nobody, I get lost every 5 minutes and I havent got a job yet (hence Im running out of money).

My Question; Have any of you out there done a massive move and left everything you know and are familiar with behind to start a new life?

Do you have any advice for someone who feels totally lost and overwhelmed?

Me!

I was so sick of everything, my home town, my village, the people in it... I just saved up enough money and moved to a different city, where no one knew me, and i knew no one.

I was temping at first with an agency, the money was crap, and I was sharing a flat with someone, was horrible and damp, but it was a start.

I then got taken on at an accounting firm, where they offered to pay for me to finish my Uni course that I'd not finished [when i had enough of my home town, i quit uni and moved]... I met some amazing people there, and I met my fiance too...

I've been living in my 'new' city for about 3 years now and although it was so scary at first, and I was starting to get depressed with he lack of money etc, but there was a silver lining and now I couldn't be happier.

Give it time honey... you will find a job, even if its not a perminent one... temping would do, but you will, and you will meet new people there, and its a whole new adventure

Although i haven't had any personal experience.. Here is some advice

1. First find a job... you need money to survive
2. Go out and network yourself... this way you will meet people and feel less lonely
3. Finally, dont be afraid to talk to your neighbor or something, they are always there so might as well get to know them~!

When I first moved I was always feeling lonely. I went and signed up for a library card and found activities there. Also once I got a job I started spending a lot of time with my boss and my co-workers hanging out and making friends. I also got to know my neighbors and became friends with them.

I actually went around my apartment building introducing myself to everyone then started just finding reasons to say i until they started saying hi back. It takes time. I would say go out and find people to spend time with. Also check around online for stuff going on in the area you live in now (like the community college, local hangouts, things like that).

Also go to the community college and see if you can find a book on the area of things to do for little or no money (most colleges have them for the typical broke college student). They're a great way to meet people.
