the background is mostly part of the stock.
and it was ugly!
so i blurred, rippled, waved, displaced, and glassed it.
then i added like 10 gradient maps, and 4 photo filters.
i think it turned out okay.
i should've started it with a bigger size though.

I really like it. I think the render is a little dark though, even though it matches the rest of the siggy, the lack of a distinct shadow on his face from the light source on the left doesn't give it the depth that i know is there.

i think you've gotten text nailed though. Maybe see if there are other fonts that are kinda universal like the ones you're using now

well, i added a lens flare, so it added light throughout.
it was darker before, but i tried my best with the lighting xD
(it was dark from the start, yeah)

yeah, like you said, most of it was the stock anyway, so there wasn't a whole lot you could do.

It looks like it's underwater. Looks great, although I wish it had more depth on the right side. The light source is fantastic and the text is head on. Excellent piece.

good job.. just the stocks face looks a bit smooshed to me? not that you resized it wrong, it think it may just be the stock.
but still really nice outcome.

nope, i didn't even have to resize it xD

I agree that the actually light source is good, but I think it's a bit too dark. Have you added curves? Curves adjust the contrast and you can balance colour as well. So much fun... I have a good link for some understanding of the curves tool, if you want PM me and I will send you the link. Or you could try using the burn and dodge tools over the dark spots. I like POTC so davy jones rocks. xD. Love the text. :O
