How to jailbreak your 1.1.3 iPod Touch [8 gig]

UPDATE: This seems to ONLY WORK FOR 8 GB iPod Touches!

Before Jailbreaking your iPod Touch please understand the following:

* By jailbreaking your iPod, you are voiding the warranty. If you ever want to restore your iPod, you can do so through iTunes and the warranty will be available.

* Some things are not compatible with 1.1.3 that were with 1.1.1 and 1.1.2.
- SummerBoard [fixed]
- Customize
- Etc

* Some applications that are now available with 1.1.3 include:
- Apps from the iPhone such as Weather, Notes, Stocks, Mail, Google Maps for free [Normally you have to pay a $20 fee to get Mail]
- iAno. iAno is an on-screen full piano where you can change the octave to achieve the sounds you want.
- 1.1.3 is also good to have for the future because it will make it easy for the application developers to comes out with new and improved apps for us.

Step 1 - Restoring your iPod Touch to factory settings and upgrading to 1.1.3

1. Plug your iPod Touch into your computer. I'm 100% that this works with both iTunes versions 7.5 and 7.6. If it doesn't work with your current version, you can download either 7.5 or 7.6 from the iTunes website.

2. Open up iTunes if you haven't set it to automatically open when your iPod plugs in. Click on your iPod on the left side. A message should pop up that says something along the lines of "A new version is available for your iPod. Would you like to download version 1.1.3?". Click 'Download and Install'. The download may take a while depending on your internet connection. Mine took about 5 minutes.

3. After your iPod has installed the 1.1.3 Firmware, it's time to restore your iPod Touch. To do so, open up iTunes, click on your iPod and press "Restore".

4. Now that you've completed that, you want to put your iPod Touch into restore mode. To go about doing so, turn your iPod completely off (hold down the power button and slide to power off). When it has shut off, hold the home button (the button that allows you to return to the main screen of your iPod). While you're holding this button, hold your power button to turn it on. This will put a picture on your screen of the iTunes logo with a USD cord pointing to it.

5. After your iPod is in restore mode, click the eject button located at the bottom right of iTunes. Now exit out of iTunes.

6. Now that your iPod Touch is all ready to be jailbroken, you need to download the following file. I will supply 3 download links; a normal link and 2 mirrors.

7. After downloading ZiPhone, extract it to your desktop. Open the ZiPhone folder and you will see a file called "ZiPhoneGUI". Execute this program and you will be presented with a user interface. To the right, check off "Jailbreak". Along with Jailbreak, you will want to check Verboose Boot. Verboose Boot is an option that displays the actions being taken for debugging purposes if you get an error at any time while doing this process. Double check that your iPod Touch is still in Restore mode. If so, click "Start" on ZiPhoneGUI.

Your iPod Touch should go blue for a moment and you will be presented with a black screen and a bunch of white, scrolling text. Let it do its thing. After it is completed, your iPod Touch will automatically restart and you should now have Installer on your home screen.

Congratulations! Your iPod Touch is now jailbroken!

But wait.. you're not done just yet. Now you need to add the iPhone application repository. To do so, go into installer and click "Sources" on the bottom left. Click "Edit" in the top right and then "Add" in the top left. Your touch keyboard should come up. Type in the following link and press Ok:

If you make a mistake, the repository will not download, so make sure you type every bit of the link correctly.

After it's down downloading, to install the applications, you will first need to install BSD Subsystem. To do so, go into your installer and press "Install". Browse down to "System" and touch "BSD Subsystem".

After BSD Subsystem is done installing, go back to your installation packages and click 1.1.3 iPhone Applications. Install the package located in there and you will now have Mail, Weather, Notes, Stocks and Google Maps for FREE!

**BONUS**

If you want iAno on your iPod Touch, add the following link to your repository:

http://podmap.net/apps

To install the package, go to "Toys" in your installation folder and select "iAno". If the application it's there, try restarting your iPod Touch. It may take a minute or 2 to update your package list.
